Matt. 24:4-5,11, and 24 read: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, I am the Christ (anointed one), and will deceive many...Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many…For false christs (anointed ones) and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.”
Matt. 16:15-16, and 18 read: “He said to them, But who do you say that I am? Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God”….And, I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My Church, and the gates of Hades (Hell) shall not prevail against it.”
As the Church is called to be the “House of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground (foundation, base, buttress, support) of the truth,” a time has come when it is necessary to stand for the truth and against false teaching, which has come knocking at our door. What I am speaking of are the teachings of the Shincheonji Church, also known as the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony. These are those who follow the teachings of it’s founder, Lee Man-hee (Manhee Lee).
Members of this group call Lee Man-hee the “Advocate,” the “Counselor” that Jesus was to send, the “promised shepherd,” the “One who overcomes,” and the “true pastor.”
There are many false teachings which this group promotes, but that would take much more space than I want to dedicate to this blog.
Let it be said that this group believes that they are the only true believers who will have any part in the “new heaven and the new earth,” and that all other churches and their members will be cast into the Lake of Fire. The following quote is from their writings which are from “The Creation of Heaven and Earth” by Manhee Lee.
He writes: “No one knows the only true God except for Jesus and those to whom he gives the revelation: the pastor promised in the New Testament who eats the scroll and those who receive the revelation from the promised pastor. Thus, people obtain eternal life by knowing the only true God, Jesus, and the one who overcomes. The one who overcomes is the pastor promised in the New Testament…”. He goes on to write: “In contrast, the field , it's pastors, and it's congregation members…will all be thrown into the fiery lake of burning sulfur and consumed in its flame.”
This group is subtle in it’s recruiting, and will probably not tell you they represent this group. Rather, they will come to you and invite you to a “Bible Study.” This group uses a lot of Bible verses, mostly out of context, but they teach that only “The Pastor, Lee Man-hee” knows how to interpret them.
Let me remind you that 2 Peter 1:2 says, “that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation,” and that Jesus said in John 14:26, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to you remembrance all things that I said to you.” To apply this verse to any human entity is nothing short of blasphemy!
I hope this is sufficient to steer you away from this source of error which is currently among us. I pray that “The Spirit of Truth…will guide you into all truth” (John 16:13).
