This past Sunday, we announced that free copies of Gentle and Lowly, and Multiply were available in the back of the auditorium to pick up. It was amazing to see all the Multiply copies being picked up, and over half the Gentle and Lowly copies taken as well. With a post already written about Gentle and Lowly, it is fitting that we write one for Multiply as well.
Are you looking to help someone in his or her spiritual walk? Do you know of someone is who new, or weak in their faith, or simply someone looking to grow spiritual but not sure how to start? Maybe that person is a friend, family member, co worker, or even you! This book serves as an amazing starting point for that individual. The aim of Multiply is first, to equip people with an understanding of the Bible, and to give a discipleship resource, and second, to allow and foster organic, relational discipleship with people. This book is designed for you to read with another person and grow in faith and understanding of God. (Prov. 27:17). We as a body of believers, are created with the mandate of “go and make disciples” (Matt. 28:19). We are to make disciples, who go and make disciples, who go and make disciples, and so on and so forth. We are to “multiply.”
Multiply is a very easy book to read and understand. It’s contents are not too complicated for someone to read, so there is not a need to worry for being confused with words, terms, or ideas. You will find, as you flip through each chapter, simple yet profound realizations on church, prayer, God, and the Bible. Again, this book is the best “jumping off” point for someone looking to grow in the Christian walk.
If you picked up a copy, or want a copy, this is what you ought to do with this book. First, as mentioned already, find someone you know who is also a believer. Get him or her a copy of the book and begin to read and meet regularly as you progress through the book. Discuss what you have learned, and disciple one another (this is not simply our recommendation, but this is quite literally the design and purpose of the book as the author says this same statement in the introduction). Second, once you are done, move to the next person and begin discipling them too. Send yourself and your partner out to multiply disciples for Jesus Christ!
Multiply is an amazing resource for Christians who wish to begin learning more about the faith, and who are looking to be discipled or mentored. We as believers are commanded (not asked) to make disciples for Jesus, and there is perhaps no better tool or resource written that may aid in this command. I highly encourage you to start now in the discipleship process with this book, and/or to get yourself a copy as soon as you can. Go now, and make disciples of all nations.
